The IAHC Library will host a book signing and reading with author and scholar James Silas Rogers this March. Rogers will read from Irish-American Autobiography:  The Divided Hearts of Athletes, Priests, Pilgrims, and More and books will be available for purchase.

In Irish-American Autobiography, Rogers draws on a diverse assembly of autobiographies to offer a dynamic portrait of Irish-American identity and experience.  The book delves into the shifting meanings of Irish-ness over the twentieth century, by looking at such well-known figures as Connie Mack and Jackie Gleason contrasted against every day Irish Americans. His book brings into the spotlight the lives of many men and women whose lives and writings allow a more thorough understanding of the Irish diaspora.

Rogers is the director of St. Thomas’ Center for Irish Studies, the editor of the New Hibernia Review and past president of the American Conference for Irish Studies.

The book signing is Tuesday, March 7 at 7:30pm in the Library and is free.
