About This Event

A Beginner’s Day of Calligraphy

Saturday March 21, 2026

Time: 12:00 to 4:00 pm

Format: In-Person
Instructors: Laurie Paolinetti & Lisa Kivland
No experience needed!
Cost: $75 per person (in-class supplies provided)

Description:

Enjoy an afternoon exploring not one, but two calligraphy scripts! One will be a pointed pen Copperplate, the other a broad pen Italic. You will be guided through the basic use of each tool, beginning strokes of each script, the formation of lowercase letters, & writing a few words. No need to purchase supplies – just bring yourself and a curiosity to learn calligraphy! Tools (pens, nibs, ink) will be provided for your use in class – not to take home. A handout will be provided for you in class, which is yours to keep. It will include a full exemplar of both scripts for you to practice on your own and hone your skills for future classes at the IAHC.
