Rory Makem returns to the Irish Fest stage in 2019. He performs on banjo, guitar and vocals.
Makem was born in Drogheda, County Louth, about an hour north of Dublin. He continues the lineage of one of Irish music’s dynasties, begun by his grandmother Sarah Makem, who was sought after by song collectors for her store of traditional Irish songs. His father, Tommy Makem, was the modern-day Bard of Armagh.
Makem has performed before millions of people from Canada to Texas, from California to the Caribbean and over to Ireland, highlighting national PBS specials and popular Irish talk shows along the way.
He is currently touring extensively with Donal Clancy, and the duo performed at the IAHC for concerts in 2017 and 18.
Rory Makem performs on Saturday, July 13 at 4:30pm on the Fifth Province Stage and Sunday at 4:30pm on the Folk Stage.
