The Dirty Wellies is a trad Irish band based in the Chicago area. Their style and love of traditional Irish tunes and songs has carried the band to festivals, concerts and a variety of private and public performances. Modern tunes and twists have come into the repertoire along the way, but the focus remains trad.
The band formed in 2012 when County Mayo natives Regina Garrity and Margaret Murphy O’Callaghan, along with Margaret’s sister and Kevin Branigan on guitar and vocals, began playing regularly at a popular Chicago suburban pub. The band expanded to include Jim Aman, Vincent O’Callaghan, Frank Gleeson and Eileen Ellis.
The Dirty Wellies is Regina Garrity on accordion, Margaret O’Callaghan on fiddle, Frank Gleeson on mandolin, banjo and vocals and Eileen Ellis on whistle, bodhran and vocals.
The Dirty Wellies perform Sunday July, 14 at 7:30pm on the Fifth Province Stage.
