Colm Keegan: A History of Ireland through Music

Colm Keegan: A History of Ireland through Music 2025-05-09T01:32:57-05:00

Award-winning Irish singer Colm Keegan brings his multimedia production to the Center this February.

“Colm Keegan: A History of Ireland Through Music” is a multimedia performance featuring key events in Irish history, framed by Irish songs of music of the eras represented. This is not a music gig, nor is it a history talk. It’s a combination of both with Keegan merging a Ted Talk concept, telling the story of Irish history through the medium of PowerPoint presentation with the power of live music.

Ireland as a country is full of rich history and culture. Throughout this presentation, Keegan will weave both history and culture and a day of speaking the Irish language.

Fans have the choice of attending a pre-performance meet and greet party during sound check, an Intro to the Irish language workshop or the 90-minute History of Ireland Through Music performance, or all three!

Thirty-year old Keegan was born and raised in Dublin and won music awards from a young age. His choral experiences brought him to such remarkable venues St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York and St. Peter’s Basilica for the Pope in Rome. While he was studying at UCD he was invited to join the choir of Celtic Woman for their “Songs From The Heart” CD and DVD Public Television special, and has since toured with the production in the US, Europe and Japan. In 2012, he joined Celtic Thunder as a principal singer.

Before touring the globe with Celtic Thunder and Celtic Women, Keegan completed an honours degree at University College Dublin in music and the Irish language. His diverse background in Irish history and language, coupled with his talent and stage presence make this unique show a must-see event.
