For more than twenty five years, artist Michael Carroll has been creating brand new works in the style of the 8th Century Irish monks. His intricate illuminated manuscripts have been likened to “lost pages from the Book of Kells.” Seeking to pass on the tradition, he offers two Celtic art courses at the Center this fall:

Knotwork By Hand and Eye 1: Introduction to Knotwork
Sundays, 10am-12:30pm, September 16-October 21
$125 for IAHC Members and $140 for non-members
Learn the basics of Celtic knotwork using the easy grid method. No experience required; all ages welcome.

Celtic Art Portfolio: Open Studies
Sundays, 1pm-3:30pm, September 16-October 21
$125 for IAHC Members and $140 for non-members
A project-oriented class for artists and craftspeople; some knowledge of Celtic art is helpful. Carroll acts as guide and advisor as students choose their own projects, media and Celtic art styles.

Classes run in six-week sessions. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn these easy, historically accurate methods from a modern-day monk and master of Celtic Art!
