Kevin Burke’s fiddle playing has been at the forefront of traditional music since the early 1970’s. His work with such renowned performers as Arlo Guthrie, Christy Moore, The Bothy Band and Patrick Street, along with a long solo career as a musician and teacher has earned him international acclaim in both Europe and America.

Burke’s contribution to music has been acknowledged formally on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2016 he was named as Ireland’s “Gradam Ceoil” winner (Traditional Musician of the Year) and in 2002 he was the recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship, the USA’s highest honor for excellence in the folk and traditional arts.

Although he has spent much of his life playing in a group context, Burke has never lost his love for solo fiddle music; the “naked fiddle” as he himself sometimes puts it, and it is this concept that he brings to the IAHC this February.  The Shepherd School of Irish Music will open the show.

The Kevin Burke Concert is Friday, February 16, 2018 at 8pm. Tickets are $20 for IAHC members and $22 for general admission. There will also be a Burke Fiddle Workshop on Friday, February 16 from 5:30pm-6:30pm for $40.
