Pull up a chair to hear stories from Nelson Algren Award winner Barry Pearce, plus Michael Austin and Kathy O’Neill, and music from The Boils.

Barry Pearce was born to Irish immigrant parents in Chicago, where his short stories are set. One of those stories, Chez Whatever, was selected from more than 3,000 entries to win the 2019 Nelson Algren Award.

Michael Austin’s writing has appeared in Esquire, Puerto del Sol, Outside, Printers Row Journal, The Madison Review and GQ. He is the recipient of a 2020 creative writing grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

Kathy O’Neill is a storyteller who reads stories and poems about growing up in New Jersey in the ’70s and ’80s. She recently studied at the Frank McCourt Creative Writing Summer School at NYU.

Tales and Tunes is Sunday, March 29, 2020 from 1pm-3pm. Suggested donation is $5.
