Learn more about acclaimed Irish artist and illustrator Harry Clarke, recognized for his vivid and unique stained glass designs, at a multimedia presentation in the IAHC Library.

The presentation by scholar Marguerite Helmers focuses on Clarke’s book illustrations, including the works that commemorate Irish soldiers from the First World War published in the national roll of remembrance, Ireland’s Memorial Records, 1914-1918.

Helmers is Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and former fellow at the Humanities Institute, University College Dublin. She is the author and editor of numerous books and articles on cultural history, including, most recently, Harry Clarke’s War: Illustrations for Ireland’s Memorial Records, 1914-1918. She is a frequent speaker on Clarke, early 20th century Irish history, and the First World War.
