Author and historian Bryan MacMahon reads from his book “The Great Famine in Tralee and North Kerry” in the IAHC Library this June.

An account of events during the Great Famine in Tralee and North Kerry, the book focuses on human stories rather than statistics and reveals archival information which has been untapped until now. The book was awarded the 2018 Nilsson Local Heritage Award.

Bryan MacMahon is a retired teacher who lives in Dublin who has published articles on historical topics in “The Irish Times” and “The Irish Independent”.

The Great Famine in Tralee and North Kerry: An Illustrated Program is Saturday, June 15 at 4pm and is free.
