Bodhran Demonstration with Jackie Moran
Learn the basics of the bodhrán, an Irish frame drum at Irish Fest with Jackie Moran.
Born in Tipperary, the son of an accordion player, ten-year-old Moran and his family immigrated to Chicago where he quickly began drumming with the best players in the Irish music scene. A founding and driving force of such influential bands as The Drovers, Wilding, Comas, Bua, and The Otters, Jackie
is a fixture in the studio and in concert settings, sympathetically accompanying such great artists as Kevin Burke, Dennis Cahill, Liz Carroll, John Doyle, Martin Hayes, Paddy Keenan and Jimmy Keane.
Moran’s talents have also led him to appear on stage with Riverdance, and to help form and perform with the Trinity Irish Dance Company. He has performed in Backdraft, Blink and The Road to Perdition.
Bodhrán Lessons with Jackie Moran are Sunday, July 8 from 3:30pm-4:30pm in Room 111.
