The beautiful IAHC Art Gallery, located on our Second Floor Arts Wing, hosts as many as 10 exhibits per year. Artists from all over the world exhibit their paintings, photography and sculpture in shows that feature Irish themes.
Our curators carefully selects artists whose work is representative of the diverse Irish culture. The Gallery has hosted the work of Belfast muralists, Mark Ervine and Marty Lyons, who painted live peace murals at our iBAM! Irish Books, Art and Music Celebration. At the very first iBAM! in in 2009, the Gallery hosted the Bogside Artists, who also painted live in the Gallery. Other noted artists have included Maura O’Rourke, Michael Carroll, Laura Coyle and the Bogside Artists, Alice McMahon and Cindy Matyi and Barry “Jazz” Finnegan; another iBAM! artist.
The Center hosts an art exhibit in the Gallery this March by the late Frank Crowley, IAHC Art Gallery Director.
The Kite Maven: A Celebration of the Art of Frank Crowley is a mixed media exhibit of Crowley’s work spanning more than 25 years, featuring handcrafted kites, as well drawings, paintings and photographs, showcasing his love of Celtic design and architecture.
The Kite Maven: A Celebration of the Art of Frank Crowley runs from Friday, March 9 through Sunday, April 8 with an opening reception on Friday, March 9 from 7-9pm. Gallery hours are Noon-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4pm or by appointment.

For more than twenty five years Chicago Celtic artist Michael Carroll has created brand new illuminated pages in
the style of the Book of Kells. Seeking to pass on the long-lost secrets of the monks, Carroll will teach a Celtic art class, Knotwork By Hand and Eye, this spring at the IAHC.
Knotwork By Hand and Eye is open to beginners and continuing students; no prerequisites or art experience is necessary. Students willstudy the easy grid method of Celtic knots and patterns, creating borders and freehand knotwork.
The class is April 21 through June 2 on Saturdays from Noon to 3pm. Tuition is $130 for IAHC members and $150 for non-members.For more information, call the Center office at 773-282-7035, ext 10
