Province Pub

The Fifth Province Pub is the Irish American Heritage Center's warm and welcoming gathering place — a traditional Irish pub inspired by those found throughout Ireland, where live music, conversation, food, and community come together under one roof. Open every Thursday from 6:00–11:00 PM for our beloved weekly traditional Irish music sessions, the pub invites musicians and guests of all experience levels to join in the music and atmosphere. We're also open Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 PM–1:00 AM with live entertainment each weekend.

Built by the founding tradesmen of the Irish American Heritage Center using reclaimed materials from the former Mayfair School building, The Fifth Province is rich with history and craftsmanship. The handmade wooden bar was constructed from the school's original woodwork, while the bar top itself was crafted from the building's former chalkboards. The pub's stone hearth, cast iron details, and cozy atmosphere pay homage to the traditional public houses and countryside homes of Ireland.

Today, The Fifth Province continues that tradition as one of Chicago's most unique cultural gathering spaces. Alongside our newly expanded menu featuring traditional Irish dishes and classic pub fare, the pub regularly hosts live music, bingo nights, trivia, lectures, readings, cultural events, and community gatherings throughout the year. The building is fully wheelchair accessible and offers ample free parking across two lots.
