Join us this January for a lecture and demonstration, Piping: The Myths and Facts about the Great Highland Pipes from piper Kevin Chapman. Chapman discusses the history of the pipes and presents a narrative on the story behind one of the oldest instruments still played in the world. His program includes a demonstration and display of the regalia surrounding the pipes.

Chapman is a piper on the Great Highland Bagpipes who has been playing for almost 30 years. In June 2019, he was invited to play at the D-Day ceremonies in Normandy, France. He is a former member of the Shannon Rovers Pipe Band and a current member of the Dundee Scottish Pipe Band. He also competes in solo piping competitions. Chapman has played for four Presidents, Pope John Paul II, Speaker of the House, Tip O’Neill, Cardinal Francis George and both Mayor Daleys. He is a graduate of the North American Piping School and the Balmoral School of Piping.
